A Little History of Cape Cod Children's Place:

The planning for Cape Cod Children's Place started in April 1990 to establish a center to serve families and children in the Lower and Outer Cape towns of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich, Orleans, Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet.  In November 1992, a state grant was awarded to be managed through the Town of Eastham for the construction of CCCP.  In subsequent years, CCCP has continued to receive various grants from the State of Massachusetts and support from regional and local organizations, and individuals.

We opened our doors in September 1995 to our first preschoolers as a formally incorportated non-profit agency.  The toddler program began shortly after, and later we added infant care.  The Early Education Programs serve children from the ages of one month to five years.

Our Family support Programs started in 1998, with free playgroups and family activities, and soon expanded to include free parent education and family support services.

During 1999 with additional grant funding, the Early Childhood Resource Center was created.  The Resource Center enabled various local Educators to use and borrow equipment from our location. (Presently, funding for the Resource Center has disappeared.)

In 2006, in collaboration with Seamen's Bank, our Sea-Babies satellite infant/toddler program was born at the Wellfleet Council of Aging.

In addition to the Early Childhood Education Programs housed on Ballwic Rd. in Eastham, and at the Wellfleet Council of Aging, Cape Cod Children's Place also sponsors:

    • Family support consultations
    • Information and referrals
    • Lower Cape emergency childcare tuition assistance
    • Parent education & support groups
    • Playgroups
    • Tuition assistance

Cape Cod Children's Place is supported by grants from MA Dept. of Early Education and CareMA Children's Trust Fund; funding from local municipalities; and churches; private contributions; and Early Childhood program fees and tuitions.
